Eligibility

Veterans who are single, or part of a family in which head of the household, or spouse is a Veteran. Discharge status must be under conditions other than dishonorable. Very low-income making less than 50% or the area median income. Currently residing in permanent housing and at risk of losing housing and becoming homeless, currently homeless, scheduled to become a resident of permanent housing within 90 days pending location, or has exited permanent housing withing the previous 90 days in order to seek housing that better fits needs.

Provides housing and support services for eligible low-income Veteran families who are homeless, or are about to be homeless. Supportive services include: personal financial planning and credit counseling, income support services, legal services, housing counseling, healthcare navigation, vocational and rehabilitation services throughout the New York State Department of Labor, employment training assistance through the Suffolk County One-Stop Employment Center, case management services, peer support/outreach services through Suffolk County United Veterans, assistance obtaining VA and other public benefits through Suffolk County Veterans Service Agency, other supportive services/temporary financial assistance (rental assistance, utility-fee payment, security or utility deposit, moving cost, emergency housing stability, child care financial assistance, transportation).
