The Town of Babylon offers four Senior Centers which provide recreational, cultural, advisory, and health programs. The Suffolk County Office of the Aging provides these centers with a congregate meal plan. Breakfast is served daily at the Wyandanch and North Amityville centers, and lunch is served daily at all four sites. Seniors who are homebound are directed to Catholic Charities for assessment of their needs, and upon approval will receive home delivered meals.
All centers also provide advocates from the Suffolk County Office of the Aging who assist seniors with personal issues they encounter. They can also receive assistance with the Heat Energy Assistance Program, Medicaid, and Food Stamps.
Senior Services also provided include Transportation Services, which is available to transport seniors to medical appointments within the Town of Babylon. Also provides trips to Town Hall for payment of taxes and tax exemption applications and to the Social Security office. Will also provide transportation to the supermarket. Senior Services also include the Residential Repair Program which provides minor home repairs, painting, and yard clean up for persons 60 and over who own their own homes. (For further information please call Karimah Lateef at 631-789-3309).
