The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a federal program that helps supplement the diets of people with low income by providing them with emergency food assistance at no cost. USDA provides 100% American-grown USDA Foods and administrative funds to states to operate TEFAP. You may be able to get food assistance from a local TEFAP organization in your area in two ways: Getting foods from a place like a food pantry to take home or, Eating a meal with a group of people at a place like a soup kitchen
