Eligible households can receive energy efficiency services, which includes the cleaning of primary heating equipment, but may also include chimney cleaning, minor repairs, installation of carbon monoxide detectors or programmable thermostats, if needed, to allow for the safe, proper and efficient operation of the heating equipment. Benefit amounts are based on the actual cost incurred to provide clean and tune services, up to a maximum of $500. No additional HEAP cash benefits are available. Agency prefers clients call for details Application Dates: The 2025-2026 Regular HEAP benefit opened December 1, 2025. The 2024-2025 Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement (HERR) benefit closed May 9, 2025. Please check back for updates regarding HERR. The 2025-2026 Emergency HEAP benefit is scheduled to open January 2, 2026. For the 2025-2026 program year, New York State HEAP will not operate the HEAP Heating Equipment Clean and Tune benefit component. The 2025-2026 HEAP Cooling Assistance Benefit is scheduled to open April 15, 2026.
